I thought this was rather interesting. It's about some of the stereotypes, maybe even archetypes behind a good deal of the characters in Harry Potter. It mentions many of the things that bug me (or bug me as being happily accepted by the characters, the houses being one of them), though I haven't read the book that the comparisons are coming from. Still.
Now, this doesn't mean that I like Harry Potter any less. It manages to be wonderfully entertaining and engaging *in spite* of the things that don't sit right with me. Those things are probably what make it one of the few 'fandoms' that I'm into that I feel compelled to read (or at the present, rp) any fic about, because I want to reconsile those holes.
All in all, I did find the article a very interesting read.
