I introduced memes to my sociolinguistics class to explain how new languages are formed when speakers of a language are cut off in some fashion (geographically, &c.) from other speakers of their language. Sure, you can take my class! You'll want to take it the first year you're here, since I can't guarantee I'll be teaching it afterward, but that's ok because it has no prerequisites anyway. And it counts as Gen Ed credit. For social sciences, I think. @whee.
