A brightly lit shade of grey
Feb. 21st, 2002 03:14 pmMeh. My knee is feeling wonky today, like it's just a step out of place. Or maybe the world (and my knee) are going one way and I just haven't caught up yet.
Drawing class went to the art museum today, mostly to see a set of portraits of artists by a local, but we scoped through some other interesting things too. I wish there was an attitude of being able to sit and contemplate, or more exactly, sit and draw in museums here. I would have loved to copy out some of the rococo swirls or fluted shapes from some of the pieces.
Then I went to Powells and surveyed through the fantasy/sci-fi section with a growing sense of "blah". Which really is very disappointing, shouldn't I want to be reading this stuff? It's part of my self definition, to like these kinds of things, but there just wasn't anything on the shelves that I had to read. So I bought a set of the Dark is Rising series (or sequence as the covers persist in saying). Here's to hoping nostalgia isn't a let down.
