prysmicdorkWhee. I never post fic links here but I suppose I figure that if I'm ever going to start, might as well start on the less shocking end of my reading spectrum. Heh.
The Heart's Filthy Lesson by Mustangsally and RivkaT.
It's Buffy. It's Buffy/Spike. It's very well written, like a good episode. All the characters speak like well themselves and the tone of the piece is very fitting with the whole Buffy style. Am very amused in comparison with the recently aired 'Smashed'. This Spike is maybe a bit less evil, but not much. He is still... Spike.
And yay. Two more sequels. Will post links if they live up to the original.
Sequal number one. Hee. The authors must have been serious bit by the Indiana Jones bug. First Nazis and now. Well. Read the story.
Serious Moonlight
Whee. The third one. Hidden spoilers to follow (mostly 'cause I want to babble about them). Darkest of the lot, less episodic and more arc-ish in flavor. If that makes any sense

The second one is probably my altogether favorite, intriuging bits in number three notwithstanding. Time travel! Period costumes! Egypt and evil vampire goddess avatars! Of the three it's also the one I'd most love to actually see, on tv and all. And I love human!Spike, not diffrent exactly, except for a hairsbredth, and the curious vulnerability.
I'm also interested by the authors reasoning in giving Spike a soul, versus the chip, when there doesn't seem to be much difference between soul and non-soul versions. Except the whole wanton killing thing. He still wants to though and that's what's interesting; he's not like Angel at all.
So yay. Not quite done with the third one yet, but there's a very intriguing homoerotic vibe, between Spike and Angel, that's giving me little happy zings, around the bouts of confusion that is. On the one hand I'm all yay, because I like that sort of thing, on the other it doesn't seem to have gone well at all and while that shouldn't be a surprise, characterization in these stories being as good as it is, it also ends up coming off a little like gay sex = bad. So hmm. Yes. Will ruminate further upon finishing.
Okay. It wasn't exactly resolved. I mean. What I'm fuzziest about is why the sex thing is so bad between Angel and Spike. At first I thought that Angel had raped him, which yes, would have been bad, very bad. But it never comes out right and says that and later they have consensual sex, at least once, probably more since the siren chick knows, and all that happens in Angelus rejecting Spike (or rather William). So um. And it ends on a sort of Buffy/Spike/Angel note, odd... yes. Still confused. Fun though. Doubting that it'll continue on in further stories, more likely to see it go to straight (cough) Buffy/Spike, but a girl can wish.
